The Amboy Dukes were an American rock band formed in 1964 in Chicago. The band was led by guitarist Ted Nugent and gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Known for their hard rock and psychedelic sound, The Amboy Dukes released several albums, including their self-titled debut album in 1967, which featured their hit single "Journey to the Center of the Mind."
The band went through various lineup changes over the years, with Nugent being the only consistent member. The Amboy Dukes disbanded in the early 1970s, and Nugent went on to pursue a successful solo career. Despite their relatively short-lived existence, The Amboy Dukes left a lasting impact on the rock music scene of the era and are still remembered as a significant part of the late 1960s psychedelic rock movement.
