The Animals were an English rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1962. The original lineup consisted of Eric Burdon (vocals), Alan Price (keyboards), Hilton Valentine (guitar), Chas Chandler (bass), and John Steel (drums). They were known for their raw and energetic sound, which was a blend of rhythm and blues, rock, and psychedelic music.
The Animals achieved commercial success with hits such as "House of the Rising Sun," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place." They were part of the British Invasion of the 1960s and were known for their dynamic stage presence and powerful live performances. The band went through several lineup changes over the years before disbanding in 1969. The Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
