The Animals were an English rhythm and blues and rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. The band achieved commercial success with their gritty and bluesy sound, and are best known for their hit songs such as "House of the Rising Sun", "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The Animals were part of the British Invasion of the US music scene in the mid-1960s, alongside bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Led by charismatic frontman Eric Burdon, The Animals were known for their energetic live performances and their unique blend of blues and rock music. The band's lineup went through several changes over the years, with different members contributing to their distinctive sound. The Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, in recognition of their influence on the development of rock music.
