The Animals were an English rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. They were known for their gritty, bluesy sound and energetic live performances. The band's classic lineup consisted of Eric Burdon on vocals, Alan Price on keyboards, Hilton Valentine on guitar, Chas Chandler on bass, and John Steel on drums.
The Animals achieved commercial success with hits such as "House of the Rising Sun," "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." They were part of the British Invasion of the United States in the mid-1960s and were one of the most popular British bands of the era. The Animals disbanded in 1968, with various members going on to pursue solo careers or form new bands.
