The Band was a Canadian-American rock group formed in 1967. The original members were Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Robbie Robertson. They first gained fame as Bob Dylan's backing band before branching out on their own.

The Band released a number of influential albums, including their 1968 debut "Music from Big Pink" and the 1969 self-titled album, which featured classic songs like "The Weight" and "Up on Cripple Creek." Known for their blend of rock, folk, country, and blues influences, The Band's music is characterized by their tight harmonies and exceptional musicianship. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and are considered one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time.
