Artist Bio:
The Bar-Kays are an American soul, R&B, and funk band originally formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1966. The group was originally composed of six members, including James Alexander, Ben Cauley, Ronnie Caldwell, Phalon Jones, Carl Cunningham, and Jimmy King. They gained prominence as the backing band for Otis Redding, known for their energetic and dynamic live performances.

Tragically, four of the original members of The Bar-Kays lost their lives in a plane crash that also claimed the life of Otis Redding in December 1967. Despite this devastating event, the band regrouped with new members and continued to make music, scoring hits in the 1970s and 1980s. Over the years, The Bar-Kays have released numerous albums and singles, solidifying their place as influential figures in the realms of soul and funk music.
