The Belle Stars were a British all-female pop group formed in London in 1980. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Jennie Matthias, saxophonists Miranda Joyce and Sarah Jane Owen, guitarist Stella Barker, keyboardist Penny Leyton, bassist Lesley Shone, and drummer Judy Parsons. They were known for their unique blend of pop, ska, and new wave music.
The Belle Stars achieved commercial success in the early 1980s with hits such as "Sign of the Times" and "Iko Iko." They released their self-titled debut album in 1983, which reached the top 20 on the UK Albums Chart. The band disbanded in 1986 after releasing their second album, "Boom Boom," due to internal conflicts. Despite their relatively short career, The Belle Stars remain a notable act in the new wave and pop music scenes of the 1980s.
