Artist Bio:
The Blackbyrds were an American rhythm and blues and jazz-funk band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1973. The group was founded by jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd and consisted of a group of Howard University students. They are best known for their hit singles "Walking in Rhythm" and "Rock Creek Park," which were both released in 1975 and became popular on the R&B and pop charts.

The Blackbyrds' music was a fusion of jazz, funk, soul, and R&B, and they were known for their tight harmonies and infectious grooves. The band released several successful albums throughout the 1970s, with their self-titled debut album being their most popular. Despite disbanding in the early 1980s, The Blackbyrds' music continues to be celebrated and sampled by contemporary artists in the hip-hop and R&B genres.
