The Blackbyrds were an American rhythm and blues and jazz-funk group formed in Washington, D.C. in 1973. The band was led by trumpeter Donald Byrd and featured a rotating lineup of talented musicians. They released several successful albums in the 1970s, including their self-titled debut album in 1974 which featured the hit single "Walking in Rhythm." The Blackbyrds were known for their fusion of jazz, funk, and soul, and their music was characterized by infectious grooves, catchy melodies, and tight musicianship.
