The original lineup consisted of musicians such as Danny Kalb, Steve Katz, Al Kooper, Andy Kulberg, and Roy Blumenfeld.

The Blues Project released their debut album, "Live at The Cafe Au Go Go," in 1966, which was well-received by critics and fans alike.
