Artist Bio:
The Box Tops were an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1967. The band's most famous lineup consisted of lead singer Alex Chilton, guitarist Gary Talley, bassist Bill Cunningham, drummer Danny Smythe, and keyboardist John Evans. They are best known for their hit single "The Letter," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1967. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary (R&R) Performance.

The Box Tops released several other successful singles in the late 1960s, including "Cry Like a Baby" and "Soul Deep." The band disbanded in 1970, with Chilton going on to have a successful solo career. Despite their relatively short time together, The Box Tops left a lasting impact on the music industry with their unique blend of blue-eyed soul and rock music.
