Artist Bio:
The Buoys were an American rock band formed in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in the early 1970s. They are best known for their hit single "Timothy," released in 1971. The song tells the story of three miners trapped in a cave-in, with controversial lyrics alluding to cannibalism as a means of survival. Despite its dark subject matter, "Timothy" became a commercial success and peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Buoys consisted of members Bill Kelly, Chris Hanlon, Jerry Hludzik, Fran Brozena, and Carl Siracuse. After the success of "Timothy," the band released several more singles but never achieved the same level of success. They disbanded in the mid-1970s, with some members going on to pursue solo careers in the music industry.
