Artist Bio:
The Buoys were an American rock band formed in 1971 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The band consisted of Bill Kelly on vocals, Fran Brozena on guitar, Jerry Hludzik on bass, Chris Hanlon on keyboards, and Carl Siracuse on drums. They are best known for their hit single "Timothy" released in 1971, which reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song tells the story of three men trapped in a collapsed mine with only a fellow miner named Timothy to eat, leading to speculation about cannibalism.
Despite the success of "Timothy," The Buoys struggled to replicate its commercial success with their subsequent releases. They disbanded in the mid-1970s, with some members going on to pursue solo careers or join other bands. The Buoys' legacy is largely tied to "Timothy," which remains a notable and controversial song in the history of rock music.
