The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1964. They were known for their distinctive vocal harmonies and blending of rock and folk music styles, which helped define the sound of folk rock. The original lineup consisted of Jim McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke.


The Byrds achieved commercial success with their cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" in 1965, which became a hit single and propelled them to stardom. They went on to release a string of influential albums, including "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "Fifth Dimension." The band's sound evolved over the years, incorporating elements of psychedelic rock and country music. The Byrds disbanded in 1973 but left a lasting impact on the music industry, influencing countless artists and bands with their innovative sound.
