The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1964. They were pioneers of the folk rock genre and were known for their vocal harmonies and innovative blending of folk and rock elements in their music. The original lineup consisted of Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke.
The Byrds achieved commercial success with their cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" in 1965, which became a hit single. They followed this with a string of successful albums including "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "Fifth Dimension." The band is also known for their influential album "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," which helped popularize country rock. The Byrds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 in recognition of their impact on popular music.
