The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1964. They are considered one of the most influential and popular bands of the 1960s, known for their unique blend of folk rock, psychedelic rock, and country music. The original lineup consisted of Jim McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke.
The Byrds achieved commercial success with their debut album, "Mr. Tambourine Man," which included their iconic cover of Bob Dylan's song of the same name. They went on to release a string of successful albums and singles, such as "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "Eight Miles High." The band's signature sound was characterized by McGuinn's jangly 12-string guitar playing and their tight vocal harmonies. The Byrds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, recognizing their significant contributions to the development of rock music.
