The Candymen were an American rock band formed in 1966 in Alabama. The group consisted of five members: John Rainey Adkins (vocals), Rodney Justo (vocals), Robert Nix (drums), John Rainey Adkins (guitar), and Dean Daughtry (keyboards). They were known for their energetic live performances and catchy pop-rock sound.


The Candymen gained popularity as the backing band for singer Roy Orbison before pursuing their own career. They released several singles and albums throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including hits like "Georgia Pines" and "The Twist." The band disbanded in 1974, with some members going on to join the Atlanta Rhythm Section. The Candymen left a lasting impact on the music scene of the era with their infectious melodies and tight harmonies.
