The Capitols were an American soul and R&B group formed in 1962 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of lead vocalist and drummer Samuel George Strain, guitarist Donald Storball, and keyboardist Richard McDougall. Their most well-known song is "Cool Jerk," released in 1966, which reached number two on the Billboard R&B chart and number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Capitols' hit song "Cool Jerk" has since become a classic in the soul music genre and has been covered by various artists over the years. Despite their initial success, The Capitols did not release any other significant hits and eventually disbanded in the late 1960s. However, their music continues to be celebrated by fans of 1960s soul music.
