Artist Bio:
The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. The band was composed of Ric Ocasek (vocals, rhythm guitar), Benjamin Orr (bass, vocals), Elliot Easton (lead guitar), Greg Hawkes (keyboards), and David Robinson (drums). They were known for their unique sound that blended new wave, rock, and pop music.
The Cars achieved mainstream success in the late 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "Just What I Needed," "My Best Friend's Girl," and "Drive." They released six studio albums during their career, with their self-titled debut album in 1978 being one of their most successful. The Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Tragically, Benjamin Orr passed away in 2000, but the band's music continues to be celebrated for its catchy hooks and innovative sound.
