The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. The band consisted of members Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson. Known for their fusion of new wave, rock, and pop music, The Cars achieved mainstream success in the late 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Just What I Needed," "My Best Friend's Girl," and "Drive." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. The Cars disbanded in 1988 but reunited briefly in 2010 before disbanding again in 2011 following the death of bassist Benjamin Orr.
