Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. The band was composed of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek, lead guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes, bassist Benjamin Orr, and drummer David Robinson. They were part of the new wave movement and gained popularity in the late 1970s and 1980s with their catchy hooks, synthesizer-driven sound, and a mix of rock and pop elements.

The Cars released a string of successful albums, including their self-titled debut album in 1978, which featured hits like "Just What I Needed" and "My Best Friend's Girl." Their album "Heartbeat City" (1984) brought them even more commercial success with hits like "Drive" and "You Might Think." The band disbanded in 1988 but reunited in 2010 for a short-lived tour before Ric Ocasek's passing in 2019.
