The Cleftones were an American doo-wop group formed in Queens, New York in 1955. The original members included Charles James, Berman Patterson, Warren Corbin, William McClain, and Warren "Junior" Givens. They were known for their smooth vocal harmonies and romantic ballads, which helped them gain popularity in the doo-wop scene of the 1950s and 1960s.


The Cleftones are best known for their hit single "Heart and Soul," released in 1961, which peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also had other successful songs like "Little Girl of Mine" and "Can't We Be Sweethearts." The group continued to perform and record music throughout the years, solidifying their place in the history of doo-wop music.
