Artist Bio:
The Clovers were an American rhythm and blues and doo-wop vocal group that was formed in 1946 in Washington, D.C. The original members were Harold Lucas, Billy Shelton, Matthew McQuater, Harold Winley, and Bill Harris. They are best known for their hits in the 1950s, including "Don't You Know I Love You," "One Mint Julep," and their biggest hit, "Love Potion No. 9."
The Clovers were influential in the development of rock and roll music and were one of the first acts to bridge the gap between traditional vocal group harmony music and the emerging R&B sound. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002. Despite some lineup changes over the years, The Clovers continued to perform and record music until the 1980s.
