Artist Bio:
The Contours were an American rhythm and blues vocal group formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1959. The group found success in the early 1960s with their hit song "Do You Love Me," which was released in 1962 and became their most popular single, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has since become a classic and is often included in oldies and dance music compilations.
The original lineup of The Contours consisted of lead singer Billy Gordon, Billy Hoggs, Joe Billingslea, Hubert Johnson, and Sylvester Potts. The group was known for their energetic performances and catchy dance tunes. While they never achieved the same level of success as some of their Motown labelmates, The Contours remain a memorable part of the music scene of the 1960s.
