The Cookies were an American girl group formed in 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. The original members were Dorothy Jones, Darlene McCrea, and Beulah Robertson. The group was discovered by Ray Brewster and signed to Atlantic Records. In 1961, the group had their first hit with the song "Chains," which was later covered by The Beatles. The Cookies' music was a mix of doo-wop, R&B, and pop, and they were known for their tight harmonies and energetic performances.
In addition to "Chains," The Cookies had several other hits including "Don't Say Nothin' Bad (About My Baby)" and "Girls Grow Up Faster Than Boys." The group went through various lineup changes over the years, with McCrea being the only constant member. The Cookies' music continues to be celebrated for its catchy melodies and soulful vocals.
