The Cretones were an American power pop band formed in 1978 in Los Angeles, California. The band was founded by lead singer and guitarist Mark Goldenberg, along with Peter Bernstein, Steve Beers, and Steve Leonard. They released their self-titled debut album in 1980, which received critical acclaim for its catchy melodies and tight harmonies.
The Cretones were known for their energetic live performances and catchy, hook-driven songs that combined elements of pop, rock, and punk. Despite receiving positive reviews, the band did not achieve mainstream commercial success. The Cretones disbanded in the early 1980s, but their music has since gained a cult following among fans of power pop and 1980s alternative rock.
