The Crickets were an American rock and roll band formed in Lubbock, Texas in 1958. The group was fronted by singer-songwriter Buddy Holly and also included members Joe B. Mauldin on bass and Jerry Allison on drums. They are considered pioneers of rock and roll music and were influential in the development of the genre.
The Crickets are best known for their hit songs such as "That'll Be the Day" and "Peggy Sue." Their music had a significant impact on the rock and roll scene of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Despite the tragic death of Buddy Holly in a plane crash in 1959, The Crickets continued to perform and record music, with various lineup changes over the years. The Crickets were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 for their contributions to the music industry.
