The Crusaders were an American jazz fusion group that was formed in 1961. Originally known as the Jazz Crusaders, the group changed their name in 1971 to The Crusaders. The band's founding members included Joe Sample on keyboards, Wilton Felder on saxophone, Stix Hooper on drums, and Wayne Henderson on trombone. Over the years, the lineup changed multiple times, with various musicians joining and leaving the group.
The Crusaders were known for their innovative blend of jazz, soul, and funk music, which helped them achieve commercial success and critical acclaim. They released over 30 albums and were nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. Some of their most popular songs include "Street Life," "Keep That Same Old Feeling," and "Way Back Home." The Crusaders disbanded in the 1990s, but their influence on the jazz fusion genre continues to be felt to this day.
