The Crusaders were an American jazz fusion group that was founded in Houston, Texas in 1960. Originally known as the Jazz Crusaders, the group changed their name in 1971. The band was known for their innovative and influential blend of jazz, R&B, and funk music. The Crusaders achieved commercial success with their albums and singles, including hits like "Street Life" and "Keep That Same Old Feeling."


Throughout their career, The Crusaders released over 40 albums and were nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. The band's lineup changed over the years, with founding members Joe Sample on keyboards and Wilton Felder on saxophone being consistent members. The Crusaders disbanded in 1991, but their music continues to be celebrated and influential in the worlds of jazz and fusion music.
