The Dave Clark Five was a British rock band formed in London in 1957. The band consisted of members Dave Clark (drums), Mike Smith (vocals and keyboards), Lenny Davidson (guitar), Rick Huxley (bass), and Denis Payton (saxophone and harmonica). They were one of the leading British Invasion bands in the United States during the 1960s, alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
The Dave Clark Five achieved commercial success with hits such as "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," and "Because." They were known for their energetic live performances and were one of the few British bands to consistently challenge The Beatles in terms of record sales and chart success. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
