The Dells were an American R&B and doo-wop vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group consisted of founding members Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, and Mickey McGill. They were known for their tight vocal harmonies and emotionally charged performances. The Dells achieved their first major success in 1956 with the hit single "Oh, What a Night."
Throughout their career, The Dells released numerous hits including "Stay in My Corner," "Give Your Baby a Standing Ovation," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and were considered one of the longest-running and most successful R&B groups in music history. The Dells continued to perform and record music until the early 2010s, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of R&B and soul music.
