The Dells were an American R&B vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group originally consisted of members Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, and Mickey McGill. They were known for their smooth vocal harmonies and were one of the longest-standing R&B groups, performing for over five decades.
The Dells achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. The Dells' music has had a lasting impact on the R&B and soul music genres, influencing many artists throughout the years.
