The Dells were an American R&B vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group consisted of members Marvin Junior, Johnny Funches, Verne Allison, Chuck Barksdale, Mickey McGill, and later, Johnnie Carter. They were known for their tight harmonies and smooth blend of voices, which contributed to their success in the music industry.


The Dells achieved their biggest success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits like "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. The Dells were also known for their longevity as a group, performing together for over five decades before disbanding in the early 2010s.
