The Dells were an American R&B vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group originally consisted of Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, and Mickey and Lucius McGill. The Dells were known for their close vocal harmonies and were considered one of the most enduring and successful vocal groups in the history of R&B music.
Throughout their career, The Dells released several hit songs, including "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "Give Your Baby a Standing Ovation." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. The Dells continued to perform and record music well into the 2000s, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of R&B music.
