The Dells were an American R&B and vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group originally consisted of Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, Michael McGill, and Lucius McGill. They were known for their smooth harmonies, emotive singing, and soulful performances, often blending doo-wop, gospel, and soul music. The Dells achieved their greatest success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)."
Throughout their career, The Dells continued to record and perform, earning a reputation as one of the longest-running vocal groups in music history. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and received numerous other honors for their contributions to soul music.
