The Dells were an American R&B and doo-wop group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group originally consisted of Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, and Mickey and Lucius McGill. They are best known for their smooth harmonies and soulful ballads, which helped them gain popularity in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Dells achieved their biggest success with hits such as "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. The Dells continued to perform and record music until the early 2010s, leaving a lasting legacy in the R&B and doo-wop genres.
