The Dells were an American R&B and doo-wop vocal group formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. The group originally consisted of Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Johnny Funches, Chuck Barksdale, Mickey McGill, and Lucius McGill. They were known for their smooth harmonies, emotionally charged vocal delivery, and engaging stage presence. The Dells achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Oh, What a Night," "Stay in My Corner," and "The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)."
The Dells were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. They were also recipients of a Grammy Hall of Fame Award for their hit song "Oh, What a Night." The Dells continued to perform and record music for over five decades, leaving a lasting impact on the R&B and doo-wop music genres.
