The Dixie Cups were an American girl group formed in New Orleans in 1963. The group consisted of sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins, and their cousin Joan Marie Johnson. They are best known for their hit songs "Chapel of Love" and "Iko Iko." "Chapel of Love" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1964, making The Dixie Cups the first African-American girl group to achieve this milestone.


The Dixie Cups' music blended elements of pop, R&B, and New Orleans rhythm and blues, creating a unique sound that resonated with audiences during the 1960s.
