Artist Bio:
The Dixiebelles were an American girl group that achieved success in the 1960s. The group was formed in Memphis, Tennessee, and consisted of singers Ginger Holladay, Margaret Anne Smith, and Sylvia Wilbur. They are best known for their hit single "Down at Papa Joe's," which was released in 1963 and reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by their producer, Bill Justis, and featured a catchy and infectious melody that helped propel it to success.

Despite their initial success, The Dixiebelles were not able to replicate the same level of achievement with subsequent releases, and they eventually disbanded. However, "Down at Papa Joe's" remains a popular oldies classic and is often featured on compilations of 1960s music. The Dixiebelles' music continues to be remembered and enjoyed by fans of the girl group sound from that era.
