The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band that was formed in 1970 in San Jose, California. The band's music is known for its blend of rock, folk, R&B, and country elements. The Doobie Brothers gained popularity in the 1970s with hit songs like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "What a Fool Believes," which won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1980.


The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years, with founding members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons being the most consistent members. The Doobie Brothers have released over a dozen studio albums and have sold more than 40 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.
