Artist Bio:
The Dovells were an American music group formed in Philadelphia in 1957. They were best known for their 1961 hit single "Bristol Stomp," which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group's music was a blend of doo-wop, rock and roll, and rhythm and blues, and they were considered one of the top vocal groups of the early 1960s.
The Dovells were originally known as The Brooktones before changing their name to The Dovells in 1960. The group had several other hits, including "You Can't Sit Down" and "Hully Gully Baby." They were also known for their energetic live performances and became popular for their dance-oriented songs. The Dovells continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s, but their popularity waned as musical trends shifted.
