Artist Bio:
The Dovells were an American vocal group that achieved popularity in the early 1960s. The group was formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1957, and originally known as The Brooktones. They changed their name to The Dovells in 1960. The group's lineup consisted of Jerry Gross, Mike Freda, Arnie Silver, Len Barry, and Mark Stevens.
The Dovells are best known for their hit songs "Bristol Stomp" and "You Can't Sit Down," both of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961. They were known for their energetic performances and catchy dance tunes, which helped them gain a following among fans of early rock and roll and pop music. The Dovells continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s, but their commercial success waned as musical tastes shifted.
