The Elgins were an American vocal group formed in Detroit, Michigan in the early 1960s. The group was originally comprised of members Saundra Mallett Edwards, Cleo "Duke" Miller, Norman McLean, and Johnny Dawson. They were signed to Motown Records in 1965 and released their biggest hit, "Heaven Must Have Sent You," in 1966. The song reached #50 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the Billboard R&B chart.
Despite their initial success, The Elgins struggled to achieve further commercial success and eventually disbanded in the late 1960s. However, "Heaven Must Have Sent You" has since become a classic and has been covered by various artists over the years. The Elgins' music continues to be celebrated by fans of classic soul and Motown music.
