Artist Bio:
The Elgins were an American vocal group who achieved success in the 1960s. They were originally formed as a quartet in Los Angeles in the early 1960s, consisting of lead vocalist Saundra Mallett Edwards, her sister Sandra Mallett, and male vocalists Norman McLean and Johnny Dawson.
The Elgins signed with Motown Records in 1966 and released their most famous and successful single, "Heaven Must Have Sent You," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard R&B chart and the top 50 on the pop chart. Despite their talent and success, The Elgins disbanded in the late 1960s, with Saundra Mallett Edwards pursuing a solo career. Their music continues to be celebrated and remembered as a classic example of the Motown sound.
