Artist Bio:
The Esquires were an American R&B vocal group formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the late 1950s. The group was composed of Gilbert Moorer, Alvis Moorer, Shawn Taylor, and Millard Edwards. They began their career singing in local clubs and talent shows before gaining national recognition with their hit song "Get On Up" in 1967. The song reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the R&B chart.
Following the success of "Get On Up," The Esquires released several more singles including "And Get Away" and "You Say." They continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, although they never quite replicated the success of their initial hit. The Esquires are remembered as one of the pioneering R&B groups of their time, known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound.
