Artist Bio:
The Fifth Estate is an American rock band that was formed in Stamford, Connecticut in 1963. The band is best known for their hit single "Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead," which reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1967. The song was originally written for the film adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" but became a popular protest song against the Vietnam War.
The Fifth Estate continued to release music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with varying degrees of success. They also toured extensively during this time, performing alongside notable acts such as The Beach Boys and The Byrds. While they never achieved the same level of commercial success as some of their peers, The Fifth Estate remains a respected and influential band from the 1960s era of rock music.
