The Five Americans were a 1960s American rock band from Durant, Oklahoma. The group originally formed in 1962 under the name The Mutineers before changing their name to The Five Americans in 1965. The band's lineup consisted of Mike Rabon (vocals, rhythm guitar), John Durrill (vocals, keyboards), Norman Ezell (lead guitar), Jim Grant (bass), and Jimmy Wright (drums).
Their most well-known hit single was "Western Union" released in 1967, which peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group also had other charting singles such as "I See The Light" and "Evol-Not Love". The Five Americans were known for their garage rock sound and catchy melodies, and they were active in the music scene until the early 1970s. Despite not achieving long-lasting mainstream success, The Five Americans have remained a notable band in the history of 1960s rock music.
