The group was formed in New Haven, Connecticut in 1954 and originally consisted of Fred Parris, Lou Peebles, Stanley Dortch, Ed Martin, and Jim Freeman. Their most famous song, "In the Still of the Night," was released in 1956 and became a classic in the doo-wop genre.
Despite several lineup changes over the years, The Five Satins continued to perform and record music, earning a place in the history of doo-wop music. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003. Their music has been featured in various movies, TV shows, and commercials, ensuring their legacy in the world of doo-wop music.
