The Five Satins are an American doo-wop group best known for their 1956 hit song "In the Still of the Night." The group was formed in New Haven, Connecticut in 1954 and originally consisted of Fred Parris (lead vocals), Al Denby (tenor), Ed Martin (baritone), Jim Freeman (tenor), and Stanley Dortch (bass). The group's smooth harmonies and romantic lyrics made them a popular act during the doo-wop era of the 1950s and 1960s.
