Artist Bio:
The Five Stairsteps were an American family group from Chicago, consisting of five siblings: Alohe, Clarence Jr., James, Dennis, and Kenneth Burke. They are best known for their hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s, such as "O-o-h Child" and "World of Fantasy." The group was formed in 1965 and signed with Windy C Records, where they released their debut album, "The Five Stairsteps," in 1967.
The Five Stairsteps gained popularity for their soulful harmonies and catchy melodies, and they were often compared to The Jackson 5. They were one of the first groups to achieve success as a family act in the R&B and soul music genres. Despite not achieving the same level of commercial success as some of their contemporaries, The Five Stairsteps are considered an influential group in the history of soul music.
